Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: #147 Gardens

“Beauty surrounds us, but usually we need to be walking in a garden to know it.” – Rumi

I have always enjoyed walking through botanical gardens in various cities, enjoying the interesting collection of plants, trees and artwork on display.  When in southwest Florida, Naples Botanical was one of my favorite places to visit, with my camera of course!

Naples Botanical Gardens is one the youngest gardens in history to receive the American Public Gardens Association’s prestigious Award for Garden Excellence.  They have 170-acres featuring a Preserve and a Water Garden in addition to showcasing a few gardens from around the world – Asian, Brazilian, Caribbean plus a Florida Garden, Orchid Garden and Children’s and Butterfly Garden.  At Christmas time the Garden is alive with colored lights decorating the plants, attracting visitors from all over.  The Garden was featured in one of my posts (December 2018) entitled “Celebrations”Click here to check it out.

Wish I knew the name of these plants I’m featuring….sadly I don’t 😒.  If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know.  These can also be viewed in a larger screen by double clicking each image.

“Gardens and flowers have a way of bringing people together, drawing them from their homes.” – Clare Ansberry

“We might think we are nurturing our garden, but of course it’s our garden that is really nurturing us.” – Jenny Uglow

The Water Garden is a landscape reminiscent of Claude Monet’s water lily pool.

“Flowers are restful to look at.  They have neither emotions nor conflicts.” – Sigmund Freud

Hope you enjoyed seeing a few of these beautiful plants and thank you for visiting my post!

Amy is our host this week so be sure to see her beautiful post entitled Gardens.

“Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature,is a help.  Gardening is an instrument of grace.” – May Sarton
