Lens-Artist Photo Challenge: #128 And Here Comes the Holiday Season…

“My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others.” – Bob Hope

With Christmas Day only several hours away, I am reminded of a few favorite Holiday scenes over the years.  Every holiday, until this year, has been spent with our family either in our home or theirs.  Plus there have often been years when my husband and I would spend days in New York City, Naples, Florida or Montreal, Canada, enjoying the holiday lights and decorations.

“Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.” – Norman Vincent Peale

These are a few favorite pictures from our travels.  Although the first one was taken close to home.  This live oak tree on Kiawah greets everyone as they approach the bridge to go on the Island.

“City sidewalks
Busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style
In the air
There’s a feeling
Of Christmas…”

A few years ago, it was hard to beat the festive atmosphere of Manhattan in New York City.  This was taken in front of the Exxon Building on 6th Avenue or Avenue of Americas.

“Maybe Christmas” the Grinch thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, …perhaps…, means a little bit more.” –  Dr Seuss

What is Christmas like without Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas or Charlie Brown and his Christmas tree?

“I never thought it was such a bad little tree.  It’s not bad at all, really.  Maybe it just  needs a little love.” – Linus from a Charlie Brown Christmas by Charles M. Schulz

Each year this little tree is a part of decorations in our son’s home.

“Love Christmas, not just because of the presents but because of all the decorations and lights and the warmth of the season.” — Ashley Tisdale

These two pictures were taken in Montreal’s Underground City.

“It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree that matters, It’s who’s around it” – Charlie Brown

“Happy holidays!  Here’s wishing you all the joy for the season and the happiness all throughout the upcoming year”

Please stay healthy and safe travels wherever you go!

“The Joy of brightening other lives, bearing each other’s burdens, easing each other’s loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes the magic of the holidays.” – W.C. Jones
