WINDOWS: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge

This week Ann-Christine challenged us to show pictures of some interesting windows we have seen.  She suggested we look for “what/who is standing or sitting by or at the window …. find an interesting something standing or hanging in the window…or perhaps seen through the window!”

Below is an eclectic collection of recent window photos I encountered.  Each window image has it’s own unique personality plus a story to tell!!

“Your desire to be near a window is your desire to be close to life!”   Mehmet Murat ildan

Colorful art surrounds the window and doorway at this house in Montreal, Canada.  Topaz software created the smooth, glassy look.

The next collection of pictures show something standing by a window or attached to the wall surrounding the window.

Windows outside the Casa Milà, popularly known as La Pedrera or “The stone quarry”, a reference to its unconventional rough-hewn appearance.  Beautiful details are displayed in the wrought iron balconies, which simulate climbing plants. This famous modernist building on Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona, Spain was designed by architect Antoni Gaudí and built between 1906 and 1912.

The artsy balconies in front of these windows greet walkers as they pass by the Catalonia Catedral Hotel and Desigual clothing store on Carrer Dels Arcs, 10 in Barcelona, Spain.

A beautiful setting around the windows, so colorful and enjoyable to look at when passing by this home in Corfu, Greece.

Many people walk by this house in Maine when shopping, selecting a restaurant or taking a boat tour.  It’s not unusual to see small groups stop in front of the harbor master’s house to admire the various designer birdhouses; and yes, many resident birds call this home!

“Better keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you must see the world.” ∼ George Bernard Shaw

The next two pictures were taken looking through two different windows at very appealing landscapes!  This one is looking into the harbor through a small window when walking along The Rock in Monte Carlo, Monaco .

“I found the brightness of the outdoors, rectangled through large glass panels.”   Alexandra Kleeman, You Too Can Have a Body Like Mine

This stunning fall foliage in Maine accents the beautiful golf course.  Everything seemed so peaceful and calm when looking through this window recently, too bad the beautiful colors outside will soon be gone as winter approaches.

Halloween is right around the corner, so it only seemed fitting to include this picture of playful skeletons climbing on the roof by the windows – obviously the Halloween spirits are out and about now!

“I discovered windows one afternoon and after that, nothing was ever the same.”

Anne Spollen, The Shape of Water
