BLUE: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge

When searching my photo archives I was surprised to see so many pictures where blue is the dominate color.  Just wish I had a pair of blue suede shoes to show!

“Blue is the only color which maintains its own character, in all its tones it will always stay blue; whereas yellow is blackened in its shades, and fades away when lightened; red when darkened becomes brown, and diluted with white is no longer red, but another color – pink.”  ∼  Raoul Dufy

“I see skies of blue and clouds of white, bright blessed days and dark sacred nights, and I think to myself what a wonderful world.” ∼ Louis Armstrong

Several shades of blue are obvious in this picture of a young girl. She is wearing a royal blue jeans jacket while quietly playing with the light blue-grey gravel on the path.  These blue colors blend nicely with the glaucous blue siding and powder blue trim on the building, complimented with a beautiful dark blue sky above.  This picture was taken on Peaks Island in Casco Bay, Maine.

“There is no blue without yellow and without orange.”  ∼  Vincent Van Gogh

This image seems to fit Van Gogh’s thoughts concerning colors – yellow, orange and of course, blue.  Taken with an iPhone and edited using Prisma photo app.

The beautiful dark blue color of the hyacinth macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus) truly stands out against the green leaves and light colored background.  This parrot is native to central and eastern South America and is the largest macaw and parrot species according to Wikipedia.  This photo was taken last year while visiting the Montreal Biodome, QC, Canada.

“Blue is the color of peace. Water is blue. I like the color blue because it just puts me at peace. The patriotic symbol is blue. I just like blue.”   ∼  Antonio Brown

It’s not uncommon to see commercial shrimp boats when on the beach at Kiawah Island.  Boots like this one have trawled South Carolina waters since the 1029s.  The wonderful sweet taste of these large shrimp is delicious and keeps you asking for more!  This image was captured in the early part of October during a full moon.

“Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.” ∼  Nathaniel Hawthorne

The blue morpho butterfly lives in the tropical rain forests of Latin America and is one of the largest butterflies in the world. Its wing span ranges from 5 to 8 inches and is an iridescent blue.   This image was taken at The Butterfly Farm in Oranjestad, Aruba.

The ocean looks so blue…..  This large branch was discovered while walking by the ocean during the evenings golden light period.  On closer inspection I noticed a few sea shells hanging from the top like ornaments on a Christmas tree.  Well, it was December after all….  Taken with an iPhone and edited using the photo app Prisma.
