Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: #81 SEEING RED

Patti invites us to show pictures featuring the color Red.  Red colors are believed to be a symbol for many things: passion, love, rage, danger, good luck.  Even though shades of red can be in many tones, it’s rarely seen as demure.  Perhaps Taylor Swift says it best:

“Red is such an interesting color to correlate with emotion, because it’s on both ends of the spectrum.  On one end you have happiness, falling in love, infatuation with someone, passion, all that.  On the other end you’ve got obsession, jealousy, danger, fear, anger and frustration.”

Ladybugs are considered to be lucky charms by many cultures when they land on someone since they are supposed to bring good fortune and prosperity.

I do not know much about this species of red frogs and whether or not it is poisonous.  Often times though, they are poisonous with their red coloring attracting attention and serving as a warning to predators that they are in danger.  This picture was taken at the Botanical Gardens in Norfolk, Virginia.

Ever wonder why many fire engines are painted red?  Probably since red is a strong color and it helps them stand out and attracts attention during emergency situation so people can avoid them.  Unfortunately I could not find the date of this old Engine #5 in Ogunquit, Maine.

These next three pictures show common examples of red in nature!

As we approach Valentine’s Day it only seems appropriate to show red in a symbol of love!
