Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: #72 WAITING

This week Amy invites us to explore a few situations we have encountered which involve waiting.  Guess I never really stopped to consider how much time I spend waiting some days. The realization was scary although like many people, spending this time doing something relaxing helps the time go by quicker.  (Actually, I am waiting now for my husband in a doctor’s office while working on this blog!  Thank goodness for larger size handbags for carrying books and iPads.)  Taking air flights or waiting for appointments usually entails waiting although often times ‘people watching,’ talking to others, reading, checking the phone or listening to a podcast or music helps the time go by faster.  And then there are times we have to wait in traffic 😟 – thank goodness for good radio stations!

I have selected some pictures showing a few different situations which involve waiting.

A couple of years ago, my husband and I spent several hours at the JFK airport in New York waiting for a flight out of the country.  This was taken an open-air waiting area in one of the concierge’s lounge at the airport.  This room was a delightful place to wait since the sun was not out and the air was so pleasant.

These children are waiting for another friend to join them in their game of pool by the ocean.  Occasionally we saw people playing chess but the pool table was the most popular by far.   This was taken at a beach resort in Aruba.

This is an area in Ogunquit Beach, Maine where people come from all around to relax, enjoy the beauty of the ocean and watch sail boats going by.   Even cold, windy days do not seem to matter as people bundle up in warm clothes and watch the sun rise while enjoying their morning coffee.

So often people spend time in a restaurant waiting.  In this case, one man is checking his phone while others are talking or watching the events outside.  This was taken on Kiawah Island at the Ocean Course Golf Course.

When out for an evening walk I watched the sun slowly go down and waited for the golden light to appear. This soft light is created shortly after sunrise or before sunset when the sun bathes everything in a warm glow and shadows become long and dramatic.  This beautiful moment passes so quickly that I have learned to patiently wait and be ready with my camera!

A surfer in Maine is waiting for the next big wave so he can catch a ride up to the shore line.
