Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #316 Destination: Fun

“Love the life you live. Live the life you love.” – Bob Marley

This week Egidio, of (Through Brazilian Eyes) suggests we show pictures of a few things we like to do for fun. I like being with friends, traveling with my husband or quiet times walking with my dog or reading a book. In adittion, having a camera close by is a great way to enjoy my surroundings since I find myself looking for interesting subjects to photograph.

I decided to feature a few pictures of fun places and events my husband and I have enjoyed over the years.  First, the banner picture, was taken at a resort hotel in Aruba where we always stay. Closer to home in the United States, my husband and I spent several years living close to New York City. We often drove into the The City for dinner, to visit mid-town Manhattan or SoHo or meet friends for an afternoon or evening out on the town. The picture below was taken in Central Park where we would meet up with friends for a picnic. The lovely Belvedere Castle near Burns Lawn is shown in the background.

“I’m all about having a laugh, having fun, love being around people who are like that, who give off that positive vibe.” – Tenille Dashwood

On another occasion while in Central Park we visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art to see the exhibit, Roxy Paine on the Roof, titled Maelstrom. A 130-foot-long (39.6 meters) by 45-foot-wide (13.7 meters) stainless-steel sculpture occupying nearly 8,000 square feet (2438.4 meters) on the Roof Garden.

These next two pictures are fun restaurants in Aruba where we often dined. They are well known not only for their excellent food but also their unique ambiance.

Coming back to the United States, closer to our home on Kiawah Island, SC, people from all around turn out for free afternoon concerts and featured food events held on the lawn at Freshfield Village.

“I’m having fun. I’m being myself. I’m doing what I love. That’s all that matters.” – James Charles

Hope you have enjoyed seeing pictures of a few fun destinations I have enjoyed. For me, having some alone time doing something I enjoy is as much fun as anything else I do.

On another note, Photographic Society of America invited me, for the second time, to exhibit a picture in their monthly Digital Study Group Showcase. The exhibit runs from mid-September to mid-October and can be viewed by clicking here.

“Simply slow down and be kind.  And don’t forget to have art in your life – music, painting, theater, dance and sunsets.” – Eric Carle

  1. Sylvia, your beautiful photos do show how much fun you have in those places. What a great gallery! I liked all the photos, and especially, the ones in Central Park and Aruba. That sculpture is impressive! Thanks for joining the challenge.
