This week Tina says “our challenge is to choose a few images which are our all-time favorites. No matter the subject or how long ago they were taken. Then we need to TELL US WHY you chose them.” (Note: I apologize in advance that many of you have seen these images before -clicking on a picture will enlarge it)
This cloud formation below appeared after an afternoon storm in Maine. This is a favorite because the sunlight creates various colors in the clouds and is also focused on what appears to be vertical looking columns of clouds.
These flowers are from our garden in Wells, Maine. I am drawn to the interesting details in each flower when the sun shines on its translucidus petals.
A beautiful day in Kennebunkport, Maine. The specular colors of the fall foliage are reflected in the water creating an interesting contrast with the gray canoes and sky.
This Carolina Wren, who lives in our back yard on Kiawah Island in SC, builds a nest each year over our kitchen window. I like the numerous curved lines in this picture and the overall soft colors. The curvature of the cut palm branches is surrounding her as she goes about building her nest.
This was taken on Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine. To me it shows how small a person is in comparison to the ruggedness of the cliffs on a foggy morning high above a stormy Atlantic Ocean.
A New England low country broil in Newport, RI. The rays of sunlight are a nice contrast to the circular fire pit and men carring a with a large tray of lobsters against such an interesting background.
This picture tells a story from a previous post entitled “Telling A Story” which many of you may remember reading. (If interested, you can click here to read it.)
To me, this kind lady’s face shows a lot of hardship and her dog’s face shows softness and love. The daylight accents their features and reflects their emotions.
Tina chose a great topic although it is not that easy to only select a few favorite pictures and then explain why! And, be sure to click here to check out her favorite pictures as she describes Why She Likes Them.
Hope you enjoyed seeing these pictures again and I will end with one of my favorite quotes:
“Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine they see all day.” – Catherine Pulsifer
