“Should an insect land on you… Don’t be scared. Appreciate that you were confused for a flower.” – unknown
Donna at Wind Kisses is suggesting we explore the world of bugs and share a few favorite pictures. She has many interesting species in her post so be sure to check it out by clicking here.
Personally, I am not too fond of some bugs and have an unspoken agreement with them – I will respect their space and they need to respect mine. That being said, there are so many others I enjoy seeing and photographing, such as butterflies, lady bugs and bees. Note, these pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.
The opening shot shows a weevil or beetle (?) who would not be my favorite. I watched him enjoy himself as he was perched on one of the oranges. As I kept walking around the orange tree to get a good shot, he kept turning around on the orange continually watching me!
The next picture below shows a small fly on the tiger lily flower. He is not a favorite either but at least he is not as scarry looking as the bug on the orange tree!
“You can watch a bug crawling around for minutes at a time – just sit and marvel at its complexity, the utter bugness of it. I’ve learned to do that again.” – Bob Weir
You cannot see the ants in the picture below (except for their legs) because they are carring part of a leaf up the tree to their nest. These are Attla Leaf Cutter Ants, featured in an earlier post It’s Tricky, which you can read about by clicking here.
“How brave a ladybug must be! Each drop of rain is big as she. Can you image what you’d do if raindrops fell as big as you?” – Aileen Fisher
The remaining pictures, which do not need an introduction, are among my favorites!
“If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live.” – Albert Einstein
“Dragonflies symbolize our ability to overcome times of hardship. They remind us to reconnect with our own strength, courage and happness.” – unknown
“If I could turn myself into any bug or insect; I would like to be a butterfly and fill colours, beauty and happiness in other’s lives.” – Miti Sengupta
Hope you enjoyed seeing these bugs and hopefully a few of them are your favorites also!
“People don’t always remember what you said or even what you do, but they always remember how you made them feel.” – Maya Angelou
