Below is the Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Like all lighthouses along the coast, their message to sailors is that dangerous rocks are ahead.
People have many creative ways of sending messages, for example, what a happy message this man shared with his girlfriend!
A message and memorial for all to see, written on the rocks to the right of the lighthouse: “Annie C. Maguire Shipwrecked here Christmas Eve 1886 R.D.”
