“Sky above, sand below, peace within.” – unknown Sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean on Kiawah Island, SC. One of the many wonderful things about the beach is it’s always changing; the colors in the sky, reflections on the water, ocean waves, patterns in the sand. Constantly something new and beauiful to see each day. The header shot and featured picture was taken on this beach, different days with the iPhone11 Max Pro. These were edited in Adobe Camera Raw/Photoshop and Nik software. Many thanks to John Steiner at Journeys with Johnbo for initiating Cellpic Sunday each week. He has invited anyone to join, check out his site here and see…
Lens-Artists Photo Challenge: #114 NEGATIVE SPACE
“I frequently leave areas of raw, unprimed canvas unpainted…’Negative’ space has just as active a role as the ‘positive’ painted space. The negative spaces maintain shapes of their own and are not empty.” – Helen Frankenthaler This week Amy is inviting us to explore the use of Negative Space in our photography. By definition Negative Space is the area surrounding the main subject in a photograph which is left unoccupied. Creating this Space around the subject helps communicate the composition of the photograph and automatically draws the eyes to the subject. These pictures show how incorporating Negative Space can enhance the overall image. For example, in this first picture notice how…
DELICATE: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge
DELICATE is the photo challenge word for this week. Ann-Christine wants us to think about different ways this word can be portrayed with pictures. Such as a Delicate touch or colors, perhaps butterfly wings and new growth on plants and trees. “This is what it means to be loved… when someone wants to touch you, to be tender…” – Banana Yoshimoto A Delicate, gentle touch from this boy as he strokes the back of our dog in a loving way. “The colors of the (water and) underwater rock are as pale and delicate as those in the wardrobe if an 18th-century marchioness.” – William Manchester…
AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge
This week Tina challenges us to feature our neighborhood or someone else’s that makes us feel welcome or comfortable. I have always felt comfortable around water so I decided to feature a few pictures of wildlife and activities on Kiawah’s beach, which is in our neighborhood and walking distance from our home. Except for the first image, these other sights are fairly common. I believe the quote below also implies being a good neighbor to wildlife, helping them to preserve their future. “To be a good neighbor is one of life’s richest joys!” – unknown This Loggerhead turtle laid her eggs in the sand dunes and is very slowly…
HAPPINESS IS … : Lens-Artists Photo Challenge
This week Ann-Christine invites us to share what “Happiness Is” means to us. This topic made me think about what is important and what brings happiness in my life. “Happiness, not in another place but this place…not for another hour, but this hour.” ∼ Walt Whitman ——— “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” ∼ Mahatma Gandhi Happiness Is being with my husband, family and friends as we laugh and share good times together while making memories. Fun times spent cooking in the kitchen, dinner table talk, quiet time, walks, biking and traveling together. “Happiness is a warm puppy.” ∼ …
