FAVORITE THINGS: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge

Patti invited us to share a few pictures showing a favorite place or activity…” just about anything that brings you happiness.”  I have many favorites (family, people, pets, places, pictures I’ve taken) so it is difficult to pick only a few.  I could fill volumes of books with a list of Favorite Things!

Since we are in Wells, Maine for the summer, I decided to share a favorite activity I have enjoyed for years – going on early morning walks.  Often our two cocker spaniels, Bentley and Chester, and my husband accompany me (along with my camera!). A few days ago, we decided to walk around Ogunquit.  Unfortunately, after leaving the house I realized only my iPhone camera was along.  This was disappointing but since it was so nice out, I decided to make the best of things and share these pictures anyway after editing with Adobe Bridge and Photoshop plus NIk software.

“An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day.” – Henry David Thoreau

Our morning adventure started out in the downtown area, then we walked to Ogunquit Beach to see the Atlantic Ocean, from there we picked up a foot path which led us to Perkins Cove.  These images are a few of the beautiful sights along the way.  After passing by a few shops we approached this popular pizza restaurant which opens early for those looking for coffee, pastries and breakfast – we were too early to stop by this particular morning.

Around the corner from the pizza restaurant we walked down Beach Street and crossed the bridge on the way to the Atlantic Ocean.  This is the view of the Ogunquit River taken from the bridge facing south.

“We are tied to the ocean.  And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch – we are going back from whence we came.”

 John F. Kennedy

At the end of the bridge in front of us is the Atlantic Ocean.  Parking is ample plus a trolley service so many people come to sit and relax by the Ocean or enjoy the beach sand.  This picture of the Ocean was taken two days later than the others shown and right after a coastal storm move through over night.  Normally it is peaceful looking and calm with boaters, surfers and beach goers everywhere.

Back tracking a short ways from the Ocean, just before crossing the Beach Street bridge, is the foot path shown below which connects Ogunquit Beach to Perkins Cove.  This beautiful dirt path and bridge took us to Shore Road which leads to Perkins Cove.

Below is the view when looking towards the Ocean from this bridge on the foot path.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing a few beautiful sights as I was doing one of my Favorite Things – enjoying nature while starting off the day with a relaxing walk!

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir
