Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. – Ibn Battuta
Sofia of Photographias, our host this week, suggests we show a few pictures of memories we have made on the years. She says “look back at things we have loved in life, things that have happened, places we have visited we would like to experience again. Anything that is a treasured memory.”
The many years my husband and I have traveled all over the world gave me many treasured memories. We have visited various parts of India, England, Brazil and Canada on many occasions. Hong Kong, Singapore, Bali, Ireland and the Caribbean Islands were also part of our travels. And more recently we enjoyed a 14-day Mediterranean Cruise, visiting seven countries. We loved learning about each country plus the people we encountered along the way.
We spent a good bit of time in airports and on airplanes! Looking back now, the one thing I have remembered over the years is the unsolicited kindness from total strangers that we encountered along the way.
This challenge turned out to be more difficult than originally thought because I could only select a few pictures to post. I will start with a couple from one of our first trips to Kerala, India. The elephants in Kerala are considered prestigious symbols and mainly used in their many festivals or for timber logging.
Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times. – Asian proverb

When overseas you learn more about your own country, than you do the place you’re visiting – Clint Borgen
The Lippo Centre, a twin tower skyscraper in Hong Kong.
Island of Saint Kitts where the west side of the island borders the Caribbean Sea and the eastern coast faces the Atlantic Ocean.
We went to the 2006 Ryders Cup near Dublin, Ireland and also played a few of their golf courses.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing a few of my travel pictures. Thanks goes to Sofia for suggesting such a great topic! Be sure to check out her post by clicking here. In closing I would like to share a favorite quote and thought for the week:

Great quote to finish your post, Sylvia and yes, those are the moments that make our memories sweeter. Loved your photos, especially the St Kitts one.
Many thanks Sofia, I really enjoyed your topic, it was nice lookong back on many fond memories! I am glad you like that quote, it is probably my favorite because unexpected kindness brings the most joy all the way around.
What a great retrospective, Sylvia! You even had a photo of the beach avenue in my hometown of Fortaleza! Beautiful gallery!
Glad you enjoyed seeing these pictures, Egidio! And a small world, I remember staying in a hotel across from the beach while we were in Fortaleza. So interesting to see people playing volleyball and other sports in the sand.
And that continues to this day. When I was in Brazil last year, I stopped to watch a “foot” volleyball game. If you haven’t seen that, it’s volleyball played with your feet/legs and not the hands.
I also remember seeing what I thought was some soccer games…perhaps it was ‘foot’ volleyball instead, LOL.
A fun stroll down memory land Sylvia, thanks for taking us along! You’ve been to some really interesting places and I have no doubt you have many more wonderful images of them. Enjoyed your stroll back in time!
Thank you Tina, must admit it was fun being reminded of events and people I had not thought about for a while. So glad you enjoyed these pictures.
Sylvia, I enjoyed your wonderful travel images. You have visited some beautiful and amazing places. I love the elephant in your first photo.
Thank you Beth, if was fun taking a trip down memory lane again. I loved that elephant also, he was such a baby.
