“My life is like a stroll upon the beach, as near the ocean’s edge as I can go.” – Henry David Thoreau
Where do I find peace and relaxation? At the shoreline watching shorebirds search for food and listening to the rhythmic sound of gentle waves washing up on the sand. I also enjoy being around others on the beach walking along the ocean and seeing children playing in the sand. Occasionally, a few people are lucky enough to see a Loggerhead turtle return to the ocean after laying her eggs in the sand.
This first selection of shorelines was taken during our many travels to the Islands of Aruba and St. Kitt’s.
“Some beach somewhere, there’s a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair. Palm trees are growing, warm breezes blowing. I picture myself there, some beach somewhere.” -Blake Shelton
The remaining pictures show the diverse shorelines of two beautiful beaches near our home on the Atlantic Ocean. This first group was taken in Wells and Ogunquit, Maine.
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.” – Jacques Yves Cousteau
Last and certainly not least, these images taken on the beautiful beach at Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
“Whenever I look at the ocean, I always want to talk to people, but when I’m talking to people, I always want to look at the ocean.” – Haruki Murakami
Hope you have enjoyed seeing these images of diverse shorelines! Anne from Slow Shutter Speedis our host this week. Be sure to see her many wonderful pictures.
In closing I would like to share another favorite quote and thought for the week:
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” – Mahatma Gandhi
