It’s Tricky and this is April the 4th week! Donna suggests we share a few pictures that are not what they seem to be. Below are a few tricky looking subjects and the challenge is to guess what you are actually seeing.
I am starting off with a header shot which is probably easy to identify (the answer is at the end). But what about the tree branch below with green leaves?
Would you guess this is actually a picture of Atta leaf cutter ants carrying bits of green leaves to their nest.
Below is an open field filled with tall mud “towers”. How were these towers constructed and who is responsible? These were created by a species of about 2,000 different insects known as Wondernose. Termites and silverfish are in this group. (Click here to read about them.)
Can you guess who has a friendly looking face like this?
It’s a stingray!
I decided to create an abstract look for this last picture, can you recognize what this is?
This is a picture of two Sea anemones, a star fish or two and a crab on the bottom left.
Except for the opening shot, all of these pictures were taken at the Montreal Aquarium on St. Helen’s Island, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The header shot was taken from inside a Delta Boeing 767 airbus as we crossed the Atlantic Ocean. It was a beautiful sight to see the sunlight playing on the clouds below.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing these pictures and guessing what they actually were. Donna of Wind Kisses led our challenge this week so be sure to check out her post.
Please be safe and stay healthy and remember:
“Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine they see all day.” – Catherine Pulsifer
