“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August.” – Jerry Has
This week Amy asked us to celebrate summer with our photos. To me summer time represents people having fun outside, warm air, sunshine, fun at the beach, eating ice cream, outside meals, kayaking, fishing and riding in a convertible with the top down! So, I decided to share a few favorite pictures of people enjoying summer on Kiawah Island.
“Summer is singing with joy, and the beaches are inviting you with dancing waves.” – Debasish Mridha
Summer time means after dinner bike rides on the beach with a cooler of beverages to enjoy as the sun goes down!
“Everyone should believe in something; I believe I’ll go fishing.” – Henry David Thoreau
Fishing is a popular pastime here since several species of fish inhibit the numerous ponds on the Island. Fishermen sometimes have to compete with herons and egrets to see who can catch the most!
When summer arrives here people are out kayaking and paddling their canoes. Often times they are lucky and see Bottlenose Dolphins swimming along in addition to herons and egrets who populate the Kiawah River.
“Summer means happy times and good sunshine. It means going to the beach, enjoying the scenery, having fun with family and friends.” – Brian Wilson
Somehow eating ice cream cones and having picnics outside go hand in hand with summer. Something about warm weather and a nice breeze makes everything taste better! The picture below was taken at a popular boat marina closeby as fisherman work and locals as well as visitors enjoy eating fresh caught seafood.
Closeby on the other side of the bridge connecting Kiawah to another larger island is a small shopping village. And of course, no shopping area is complete if there isn’t an ice cream shop!
“Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink in the wild air.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Last but not least, to me one of the most recognized symbols of summer time is seeing a convertible cruise by!! 😉😊
“Summer afternoon – summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” – Henry James
Hope everyone is coping well as the coronavirus pandemic continues to change lives around the world.
Happy Summer – Stay Well, Stay Safe and Be Kind to Others!
