LANDSCAPES: Lens-Artists Photo Challenge

This week Amy wants us to show pictures of a few of our favorite Landscapes.  Ones we have seen in our travels and also those close to home we can enjoy at our leisure.  Other Landscape favorites are featured in Previous Blogs such as PATH,  SEASONAL and  FAVORITE PICTURES of 2018.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” –  Marcel Proust

“I live in a landscape, which every single day of my life is enriching.”  –  Daniel Day-Lewis

This is one of my favorite Landscape pictures, taken at The Ocean Golf Course, Kiawah Island, SC.  This scene is never static; the tidal pool created by high tides and storms is ever changing plus numerous species of birds feed here and also in the Atlantic Ocean off in the distance.  This is one of many beautiful sights on Kiawah Island which I am so fortunate to be able to visit often.       This is edited with Photoshop and Topaz Impression 2.

“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow.  The shadow is what we keep thinking of; but the tree is the real thing.” – Abraham Lincoln

This Landscape picture of the famous Lone Cypress Tree in Pebble Beach, California is located on a granite hillside off the 17 Mile Drive along the Pacific coast line.   It is believed to be around 250 years old and, said to be, probably one of the most photographed trees in North America.  I had to dig deep into my photo archives for this image which was taken about 25 years ago.

I want to share Neil Khosla’s description of the Lone Cypress tree from the Hilltromper Santa Cruz blog, September 1, 2015:  “The Monterey Cypress looks like it’s fresh out of a Dr. Seuss book.  It has a lopsided profile and a windswept mat of evergreen leaves resting atop a twisted trunk.”

“Landscapes have a language of the own, expressing the soul of the things, lofty or humble, which constitute them, from the mighty peaks to the smallest of the tiny flowers hidden in the meadow’s grass.” – Alexandra David-Neel

This beautiful Landscape scene is in the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, Norfolk, Virginia.    This serene setting along with the beautiful blooming Tulip tree adds so much color and life.

“I love the sounds and the power of pounding water, whether it is the waves or a waterfall.” –  Mike May

I am not as comfortable with heights as some people so standing on the Quechee Gorge bridge, looking down about 165 feet while shooting a picture of the Ottauquechee River, took a little courage.  The Landscape in the Quechee Gorge State Park in Vermont is stunning.  It has hiking trails plus a historical covered bridge; a very picturesque place to spend some time and take pictures!  Just imagine how spectacular this area looks in the fall with all the colorful leaves.

“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.”  –  John Burroughs

Hope you have enjoyed seeing a few of my favorite Landscape pictures and if you have a chance, please check out others in the previous blogs mentioned above.
